Composition (per 5 mL):
Dextromethorphan HBr 10 mg – centrally suppresses the cough reflex
Chlorpheniramine Maleate 2 mg – H1‑antihistamine that reduces histamine‑mediated symptoms
Phenylephrine HCl 5 mg – α‑adrenergic decongestant that shrinks swollen nasal mucosa
Uses (Indications):
Allergic cough
Whooping cough
Nasal congestion
Mechanism of Action:
Dextromethorphan inhibits the medullary cough center to reduce dry, non‑productive cough.
Chlorpheniramine Maleate blocks H₁ receptors, alleviating sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and rhinorrhea.
Phenylephrine constricts nasal blood vessels, relieving congestion and improving airflow.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults & children over 12 years: 5–10 mL orally, three to four times daily.
Children 6–12 years: 2.5–5 mL orally, three times daily.
